Globalization = Cheap Flights to London

Im sure everyone is so familiar with this term. Globalization, a word i 1st learnt in primary school (i think). we were taught to include the word into our essays. But yet, what is globalization?

according to wikipedia - Globalization in its literal sense is the process of transformation of local or regional phenomena into global ones. This process is a combination of economic, technological, sociocultural and political forces. Globalization is often used to refer to economic globalization, that is, integration of national economies into the international economy through trade, foreign direct investment, capital flows, migration, and the spread of technology.


But i realized today globalization not about more business competition, not globalized market place, not faster transfer of information.

Obama plans economic stimulus plan to save 2.5 million jobs

The president-elect's weekly radrio/video address promotes a two-year economic plan promising "a new direction, new ideas, and new reforms."

Pledges to save or create 2.5 million jobs, more than the 1 million he spoke of during the campaign.

Google Voice Search

Not like im a big google fan, but this news really attracted me. They just launched a new application which allows u to call a number and say what u wanna search for, and it will return u the searched results.

Sounds cool? prob even better when its with iPhone.

Sad that its ONLY with iPhone. Apparently its supposed to be out last friday but only came alive on Monday.






Cool stuffs, but as usual, tech stuffs always got negative reviews. some people were saying it doesnt work that well. But i guess if it works as well as the one shown in the video its good enough.

I wonder if it recognizes accent, especially weird accents. U know..we hear all sorts of accents in Singapore...prob be really difficult to come to singapore market. else they have to design the application to recognize singlish, chinglish, inglish, and anything under the sun that ends with -glish.

Cleaner killed by zoo tigers

I just changed my profile picture to the current one few weeks back. It was taken from the zoo trip in July and i got this piece of news from Alex today.
















A CLEANER at the Singapore Zoo who jumped into the white tiger enclosure yesterday was killed by the animals as a horrified crowd looked on helplessly.

Malaysian Nordin Montong, 32, was set upon by two of the three big cats in the enclosure at around noon.

According to eyewitnesses, Mr Nordin, who was seen shouting and flinging items about shortly before the incident, vaulted a low wall and landed in a moat in the enclosure, four metres below.

Carrying a yellow pail and a broom, he then crossed the 1.75m-deep moat, walked up to a rocky ledge near where the animals were and began agitating them by swinging the broom.

Not sure if its the same tiger. But yea, i wasn't holding a broom and i was out of the enclosure.











I guess the lesson of the day is NEVER carry a broom to the zoo..
