Its called cultural experience, dude !

having been here for a little over a week, its interesting to be able to notice some differences in the culture.

Hungarians are meat eater. They eat lots of lots of meat. We usually say we eat rice with meat, but some say the Hungarians eat meat with meat. but from my experience, they serve huge portion of meat with little of rice or potatoes.

They are very open minded people, yet they are so closed up. We always know that, oh, asians are so conservative and westerners are so open minded and stuff, its kinda true. but its weird that they are so open minded yet at the same time so closed up. Closed up in the sense that they are not exactly the friendliest person on earth to get to know. I mean i am in a small city in hungary, people here dont usually see foreigners around, or maybe foreigners but not asians around. so its kinda normal they sometimes (ok,most of the time) give u some weird stare...i get this alot, not that i mind those staring. I think im used to being stared in a weird way here, but im ok with that, since its normal to stare at something u dont see often. but something interesting is, i usually see them staring at me and i try to be "friendly" and smile to them, but they would99% not smile back. Usual expression will be stone face looking at u, look at other places, turn their face around, look at the ground or something like that but NEVER smile back. Its weird that in Asia altho culturally we are conservative and such, but we are so used to smiling back at people. I mean if you are in asia, try go to the streets or trains, stare at some person for a while and when he noticed that u are staring at him, smile at him, im pretty sure 80% of the time at least that they would return u a smile. Not the same case here.

Education wise, i guess its well known that asians have strict respect, no fooling around in school kinda thing and europeans have the opposite. But being there and seeing the whole thing really is another story. First obvious thing is that they dont wear any uniforms to school. Then the whole idea of classroom education is totally different here where students are expected to participate and they are so free to do whatever they want. some of them playing PSP,cards, or some random games in class, people just walk to behind of the class and start playing with their PSP during class, girls start putting on make up in class, and so on so on so on....

well, thats it for now, more thoughts need to be organized.

Interesting me
